After a 3-0 series sweep of Evil Geniuses Academy in the Spring Split finals, Cloud9 have captured their second League of Legends Academy championship in just two years. Top laner Ibrahim “Fudge” Allam was voted Player of the Series.
Cloud9 Academy, much like their pro team, have been dominant all Spring. The team finished the season with a 14-4 record, ending the split on a whopping twelve-game win streak. Carrying that momentum into the playoffs, Cloud9 Academy took down TSM Academy in the semi-finals, before their sweep of Evil Geniuses Academy for the championship.
Thanks to some great plays by bot laner Matthew “Deftly” Chen, EG Academy were able to get themselves an early advantage in the first game of the series. The team looked as though they were in a prime position to challenge C9 Academy for the championship. That all changed about midway through the first game, when C9 kicked off their comeback with a massive team fight win, and never looked back.
Cloud9 top laner Fudge was given the honor of Player of the Series. Originally a native of Australia, Fudge signed to Cloud9 Academy in late 2019. Playing Sett in all three games of the series, Fudge finished with a Kill/Death/Assist ratio of 16/5/20.
Cloud9 fans won’t have to wait long to see more action, as the Cloud9 pro team is set to face off against the winner of FlyQuest vs. Evil Geniuses on Sunday, April 19th to determine who is crowned champions of the 2020 LCS Spring Split.
