One of the best strategy games of all time, Civilization VI, is now available on the Google Play Store. Players can take their first 60 turns at no cost, but they will have to purchase the game for $19.99 if they want to continue. That’s steep for a mobile title, but it offers the same experience seen on PC and console.

If the base game doesn’t have enough content for you, several expansions are also available for purchase through the in-app marketplace. These include Rise and Fall ($29.99), Gathering Storm ($39.99), and all Civilization and Scenario packs (between $4.99 and $8.99). Mobile gamers have plenty of choices when it comes to casual strategy games, but Civilization VI is bound to put most other titles to shame — so long as it’s properly optimized.

Two years ago, the game was released on iOS and, while it certainly offered a wealth of great content, it suffered from game-breaking bugs that stopped players in their tracks. We’re hoping that these won’t appear yet again in the Android version, as developer Aspyr has had plenty of time to work out the kinks.

Created by Sid Meier, Civilization VI is a turn-based strategy title that sees players building armies, making trade deals, and slowing building a sprawling dynasty that will stand the tests of time. They’ll have to carefully pick their moves each turn, level up their structures, and engage in strategic battles as they vie for resources dispersed across the map. Despite downsizing to a smaller screen, the game still looks just as beautiful as it did when it first launched in 2016.

The series is known for being incredibly easy to sink hundreds of hours into, with many players staying up late to complete “just one more turn.” Having the ability to pick up and play your game on the go means that the mobile version could be the ideal way to experience Civilization VI.
