Although the God of War series has already explored the mythologies of the Greek and Norse gods, it sounds like there are many more beliefs and religions that exist within its universe. According to Cory Barlog, the creative director at Sony Interactive Santa Monica, even Christianity is among those denominations.

Barlog recently confirmed the information in response to a fan’s tweet, explaining that Christianity does in fact exist somewhere in the world of God of War. The director even hinted that the team had been considering Christian lore as far back as 2007’s God of War II.

As much as a showdown between Kratos and Jesus Christ would excite some and enrage others, the likeliness of something like that ever happening is slim. The game could use elements from Christian mythology though, such as the Old Testament stories of Noah’s Arc or the parting of the Red Sea, as Chandler Wood from PlaySation Lifestyle suggests.

Barlog is likely just leaving the door wide open for mythologies that God of War may explore in the future. Given that the first three games tackled Greek gods, and the latest entry just scratched the surface of Norse mythology, it could be a very long time before Kratos makes his way to the gates of heaven to challenge God.
