The sci-fi genre is nothing new to Chris Pratt, who played the iconic Peter Quill in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, reprising his role throughout several more MCU projects. Pratt also traveled through space in 2016’s romantic adventure Passengers, where he shared his screen time with Jennifer Lawrence. Now, the actor will finally do some time traveling, which he never did in Avengers: Endgame, to fight the alien threat in the sci-fi military action The Tomorrow War.
According to The Tomorrow War synopsis, a group of time travelers arrives from the year 2051 to the present to recruit soldiers for a future global war. Interestingly, Pratt’s character is no soldier in the beginning; the actor played high school teacher Dan Forester, who decided to join the fight to save the world for his young daughter. It seems time travel works the old-fashioned way here, with no branching realities from Avengers: Endgame.
The Tomorrow War is the debut live-action project for Chris McKay, who previously worked on animated The Lego Batman Movie and Robot Chicken. In addition to Chris Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski and J.K. Simmons starred in the film among others.
