UPDATED: Demo codes from qualifying orders will be sent out over the next 24-hours.
If there’s one thing that goes hand-in-hand (literally) with skateboarding, it’s hand-held food. Precious time can be saved while skating between destinations while eating on-the-go. Apparently, professional skateboarding legend Tony Hawk couldn’t agree more.
It was announced that the Birdman is teaming up with Chipotle Mexican Grill to give hungry gamers a shot at securing access to the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 Warehouse Demo for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or PC.
Beginning today, all players need to do is order a “Tony Hawk Burrito” via Chipotle’s online ordering or mobile app. The Tony Hawk Burrito - curated by Tony himself - includes chicken, brown rice, black beans, cheese, guacamole, and tomatillo-red chili salsa. However, the promotion is only limited to the first 2,000 people who order the Tony Hawk Burrito. If you’ve ever experienced any of Chipotle’s previous quick-entry contests, you’ll know how quickly free offerings get snagged up. So, unfortunately, it’s entirely likely that the promotion has already been claimed.
I personally put this to the test, ordering my own burrito along with the Tony Hawk Burrito. I have note yet received any indication that I’ll be receiving a code for the Warehouse Demo yet, and while I am going to remain as hopeful as I can, I’m not holding my breath.
Chipotle has actually had a history with the skating legend, who has been a Chipotle celebrity cardholder since 2013 - an exclusive membership provided to famous friends of the Chipotle brand which provides free meals and catering services to members.
“This first of its kind menu integration gives our fans a chance to eat like the greatest skater of all time and get access to the demo for one of the summer’s most anticipated video game releases,” said Chief Marketing Officer, Chris Brandt, in a press statement. “Real athletes need real food, and Chipotle is excited to continue being a part of Tony’s training routine whether it’s competing at the skatepark or in a video game.”
Tony Hawk echoed the excitement, stating, “Chipotle burritos are a favorite way to refuel after long skate sessions. It’s a blast to see the enthusiasm for Chipotle, skating and video games continue to grow and inspire a new generation. Whether you’re a veteran THPS player or new to the game, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 has something for everyone.
