Last month we reported that Chex Quest was making its long-awaited return in the form of Chex Quest HD, a full remake of the non-violent video game from 1996. The title is now available for free on Steam, and it’s sure to be a hit with those who played the original fourteen years ago.

A lot has changed in Chex Quest HD. Players can enjoy local split-screen, five new playable characters, and — of course — beautiful HD graphics. The game also has perks for those who purchase Chex Mix, as certain packages will contain codes that can be redeemed for new characters or even multiplayer modes in Chex Quest HD. Folks who would rather not buy the delicious snack can instead head over to the Chex Mix Instagram account to nab some exclusive content.

While we didn’t expect to see Chex Quest make a return, we’re glad that it did. The original was a hilarious combination of FPS action and an over-the-top narrative — something that looks to continue in Chex Quest HD. With main characters such as Shane “The Dread” McBread, Wheatney Chexforth, and the original Fred Chexter, players are bound to have a fun time with the revival.

Chex Quest HD is now available for free on Steam.
