Catherine was developed by Atlus and released for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2011. The game offered players a delightful mix of puzzle elements, horror vibes, and social gameplay aspects, similar to those found in Atlus’s Persona titles.

The game was re-released as Catherine: Full Body in 2019 for PlayStation 4, before recently releasing for Nintendo Switch earlier this year. This new version added a host of new content, such as additional game modes, characters, story, and endings. The other great thing about Full Body is that it expands on some of the pre-existing characters’ backstories so that fans can learn more about them. One such character is Erica, a clear fan favorite in the Catherine community - as evidenced by the outrageously fantastic pieces of fan art she has inspired. Today, we’re checking out some of the best of it.

7 Waiting Tables

This fanart by inqua has recreated Erica in their own unique style and shows her serving drinks in her classic uniform. Erica is a waitress at The Stray Sheep bar, where Vincent and his friends regularly hang out to socialize with one another.

She often joins in their conversations and is largely the source of all the rumors that crop up throughout the game. Erica is quite flirtatious and Boss, the owner of the bar, makes it known that many patrons visit the bar simply to see her.

6 The Best Hostess

Erica is a character that didn’t appear without some controversy. It is revealed that Erica is a transgender woman, which many fans absolutely loved and adored, but there were also quite a few criticisms about Erica’s role in the game as well as how some other characters treat her.

Some players felt as though the reveal near the ending that Erica is transgender is not taking the issue seriously enough, and is essentially just using it as a punchline plot device. This fanart by onisoda_ shows the gorgeous Erica with her hands full at work and is absolutely brimming with personality.

5 The Rumor Mill

This stylish artwork by xzerosauce oozes with attitude, something that Erica has in ample supply. She is a feisty woman and is often engages in mischievous behaviors, such as purposefully spreading rumors even if she believes or knows them to be untrue.

However, there are many times when she also shows her compassionate side, especially in the release of Full Body where she often takes care of Rin. For example, Erica is the one who takes Rin to the doctor concerning her amnesia, and she also kindly gives her some pajamas to wear.

4 On The Job

This artwork by Gidan-Kuroki shows the fandom’s favorite waitress in her default outfit, recreating her in their own characterized style – which, as can be clearly seen, the waitress seems to lend herself to incredibly well.

Erica wears a typical yellow waitress outfit with a French maid hat and apron as well as a casual pair of sneakers. It’s mentioned at one point that Boss allows this instead of heels as he wants Erica to prioritize her comfort over style.

3 Lady in Red

This awesome fanart by kuvshinov-ilya really has a sense of motion to it as Erica spins around while working. This piece also pays attention to detail, including a clever and well-placed nod to the “Bear Beer” brand that is featured in the game.

Erica has a short bob cut hairstyle in red, though her dark eyebrows led many fans to originally believe this was dyed. However, in Full Body, the flashback scenes also depict red hair. Additionally, the beauty mark on her chin also appears to be authentic as it is also present in the flashbacks.

2 Dream Date

This striking artwork by dyschromatopsic presents Erica in a bold purple colorway with beautiful eyes that seem to look right at the viewer. In the game, many people are subjected to vivid nightmares, which are the puzzle levels. Those who are targeted by them are those who won’t commit or are wasting their partner’s time and are, therefore, not actually going to contribute to the human gene pool.

Initially, Erica is not a victim of the nightmares, but once she begins an intimate relationship with Toby she also suffers from them. However, Vincent never sees her in the dream world.

1 Red and Yellow

This fan art by tomettt shows a cheeky side to Erica as she winks at the intended audience with a warm smile. She’s wearing her red and yellow waitress outfit, which when combined with her red hair, has made many fans draw a parallel between her and Ronald McDonald.

There are studies that show that when the colors red and yellow are combined make the viewer hungry, which likely explains Ronald McDonald’s coloring. This could also be why Boss chose this color uniform for his bar, hoping that the sight of Erica will make the patrons spend even more money.
