The video game developer and publisher, Capcom, has the licenses to some incredible IPs. In fact, fans frequently request the return of Capcom’s forgotten titles that have stopped being developed despite providing a great experience. A report has now uncovered the projects that studio, Capcom Vancouver, had been working on in recent years. Unfortunately for fans, it seems that some great titles did not make it to fully-fledged production and the studio has now been closed down.

Capcom Vancouver had previously developed the well-received Dead Rising series but it seems that during the production of the titles, the studio attempted to get new projects off the ground. The YouTube channel, DidYouKnowGaming? detailed how the studio pitched brand new projects as well as fresh entries in established franchises after the release of Dead Rising 2: Off The Record.

One of the games that was pitched by Capcom Vancouver, to its Japanese counterpart, was a new Dino Crisis game. It seems that Dino Crisis was not optioned by Capcom and the game franchise, which still has plenty of fans, may not be coming to players any time soon. Instead, it seems that the game publisher will be focusing on remakes and sequels from the Resident Evil franchise. Not only was a well-known series with a large fan base denied the chance to return, but there were also brand new titles that largely had sci-fi elements that didn’t make the cut.

Capcom Vancouver had also begun developing a game with the code name Brazil. The game, like many Capcom titles, was a survival shooter with a focus on resource management, yet Brazil would be set in a huge world that had sci-fi elements. Similarly, a game called Frontier was intended to be in the same genre but have gameplay that was more akin to Destiny, before the release of the title by Bungie. Finally, there was an interesting title set in America during the 1970s based upon Ghosts n’ Goblins and it would a paranormal shooter that places players in the middle of humans and paranormal creatures. Despite these intriguing titles, it seems that Capcom has continued to focus on the Resident Evil franchise.

The studio, Capcom Vancouver, was shut down in 2018 and it seems that most of these projects will have ended with the developer. The only game that Capcom could foreseeably bring back would be Dino Crisis, but at the moment this does not look likely. Nevertheless, fans of the developer and publisher will continue to hope that the company utilizes its vast catalog of licenses so they can enjoy sequels and remakes of some of their favorite games.
